It was clear from our first meeting with Katie and Rob that the fundamental elements of their country wedding in Umbria would have to centre around, family and friends, elegance and intimacy, and all things typical of Italian hospitality: they both love Italian food and wine…and who doesn’t!
For this reason, a careful selection of locations was imperative: something totally representative of the rural countryside in Umbria, space for children and the organisation of an intimate county wedding, views, sunsets… and of course all the mod cons included.
The couple finally chose a beautifully restored former farmhouse residence with a breath-taking view of the hills around Umbertide, near the Toscan/Umbrian border. On viewing the pristine gardens with secular oak trees and well-kept lawns, we were immediately inspired on how the whole event could be planned and implemented in such evocative surroundings. This intimate garden space was ideal for the various parts of the wedding event.
We visited the location with the couple during the winter and even then, the emotions began to flow: the ancient fireplace was aglow with burning logs and we were given a ‘prosecco welcome’ by the owner of the property…Italian hospitality at its best! Things could only get better!
We were totally in tune with couple and they conveyed exactly the atmosphere they wanted us to create and it was a sheer joy to begin work on the design project of this intimate and very romantic wedding in the Umbrian countryside.
We communicated very well with the couple over the following months until the big day actually arrived: on implementing the project on the day of the wedding, the final atmosphere was romantic, sparkling, welcoming, intimate, luxurious yet informal and light was certainly the predominant element.
The couple exchanged vows under a natural wood archway, designed and created by us and decorated with small antique-pink flowers that created a light and volatile, ‘cloud effect’, giving an unconventional touch.
Following the symbolic ceremony, the guests moved to the romantic pergola of the villa for the Italian Aperitivo and we set up a relaxed outdoor lounge area with vintage upholstered sofas, armchairs with cushions in romantic shades of antique-pink, custom-made for this event. An expert duo of strings accompanied the happy group during the aperitif.
The reception area was incredibly sparkling and romantic! The children, and not only, were in awe at how their garden had been suddenly transformed into a ‘world of sparkle’.
We installed clusters of micro-led lights that descended from the very tall trees at various heights: as guests made their way towards the dining tables, it seemed as if they were entering a fairy-tale world.
To accommodate the intimate number of guests, our technical staff created a wide angle “L” shaped table of bare wood. The rustic effect was ‘softened’ by using a series of wooden boxes containing the ‘cloud effect’ of soft, pink flowers and a large number of candles of various heights and dimensions, which gave the finishing touch to this romantic tablescape.
We introduced cut glass crystal glasses to add the extra sparkle and to reflect the light of the many candles placed on the tables.
After dinner, the wedding party moved to the swimming pool area where the DJ had set up his console: roman torches guided the couple and guests through the shrubbery until they finally reached the party area to dance the night away: here again, we distributed large customised cushions and led-lights lamps adding suffuse lighting to this area of the garden: the highlight was however the ‘surprise’ LOVE lights for the bride…designed and created by Dream On Wedding and ‘secretly’ installed by our technical staff, it lit up the night and indeed the early hours of the morning!
